Heading Home...

After the New Year, it was time to head back home again. We decided to take a bit more time coming back since we had a bit of extra time. We left Calgary about 9am on Weds am and went back to Spokane that night. The second day we headed to Portland, OR and left a little time for sightseeing. The last day we stayed at Grants Pass, OR and then headed home. We got home about mid-afternoon on Saturday.

Here we are a few hours outside of Calgary in the Crowsnest Pass. Driving through the Frank Slide area. If you're not from Alberta, or don't know the story about the Frank Slide it's quite sad. The Crowsnest Pass area is sort of famous for diasters. The Frank Slide was one of them. In the early 1900's the whole side of this mountain gave way and buried the town of Frank, AB. A lot of people died and the railway was covered in debris. There is now a really interesting interpretive center close to the site - we didn't take Carter this time, but we will some day. Nonetheless, he was very impressed at the size of the rubble on both

 sides of the highway.

We stopped in Sparwood BC to let Carter have a closer look at the World's Largest Truck. He was pretty entralled!

 Back on the road...and watching a movie...

Last stop in Canada...Cranbrook, BC. HAD to stop for one last donuts and coffee at Tim Hortons!

 It was cloudy and misting as we drove through to Oregon...caught this rainbow on camera.
