Hambly Warehouse Sale!

I stumbled upon the fact that Hambly is having a warehouse sale this week - and their warehouse is only a short drive from my house! I am super bummed they are closing - I love their stuff. I didn't have a ton of it though. I've always been a little intimidated by the high cost of product. It's great quality though, and super pretty - so a sale was the perfect time to stock up. I may have to go back again next week and get a bit more! After I got home, I had a little buyers remorse...that I didn't buy more!

Carter convinced me to get these. They should keep him busy for an hour or so. Each sheet has almost 500 stickers on it! The big sheets were $1, and the smaller hearts were 0.50.

They also had these cute bookmarks - $1/100 and the sqaure books are sticker books. I am going to use them for loot bag goodies for Carter's bday. The extra bookmarks will go to his school. They give the kids a bookmark each week at the library, and I know they will LOVE these. (sigh...should have got more!)

The papers! I really couldn't decide what to get. The paper packs were $5/25sheets and the transparecies were $10/25. A pretty great deal considering these retail for $3-$4 a sheet. However, how many of the same paper can a girl use? Even if she shares? I settled on these two packs of transperancies. A pretty lace cream, and these cute lime green banners.

Then I chose this pack of paper. It's hard to see (the light is fading and the plastic is shiny). It's kraft colored paper with metallic silver circles.

I also got these stickers and these cute moustache rub-ons. Yeah, I didn't need them...but come-on cute! 6 packs of each for $3!

Carter was kept highly entertained by the huge boxes of these at the entrance. I guess they are notebook covers? TONS - I mean thousands of covers in several different designs. All FREE for the taking. He chose tons to cut up and cut and paste. I think I may trim a few to make card fronts as well.

Lastly, I got this desktop spinner rack for $5! Not totally sure where it will live, but $5! HAD to do it!
All told I spent about $50 for everything. I am pretty pleased! :)

More pics from the Fair!

We spent a very fun day at the San Mateo County Fair today! It was sunny and hot, and best of all, we got in free (passes for our contest entries). The majority of our time was spent watchig Carter go on all the rides. The kids LOVES rides. I pre-bought a wristband for $20 and it allowed him to go on all the rides all day long. I think if we had bought actual tickets, we would have spent over $100! He had a great time though - all smiles, all day!

On the swings

He LOVED the giant slide. I lost count after the 15th time how many times he went on it. The fair was DEAD today - especially on the rides. Must take note, that seniors day is the day to go. No waits for the rides, extra long rides, and multiple turns in a row. He was the only one on the slide!

This was a crazy, rocking ride that spun around super fast. I didn't think he'd like it, but he went on 4 times!

A tame turn on the carousel

There were lots of fun activities inside too. We liked this giant turtle!

Lots of mind and science games

Funky mirrors - sucks I got myself in there while snapping this pic. :S

Carter as Issac Newton! LOL

This ride was crazy. You had to be 48" to go on, and he barely made the cut-off, but they let him on. It goes super high like a hang-glider and then tips and spins. Once again, I wondered if he'd like it, but he rode it 4times in a row (again, the only one on the ride!). Later he rode it twice more!

This was super cute. This baby turtle was crawling around the middle of the pen. Carter wanted to pet it, and started calling "turtle"! I swear that thing turned around and crawled as fast as he could to Carter. It was adorable!

A great day overall!
See the next post for our contest entries and winnings!

Winning!

Carter and I both entered items in the fair, and today we went and saw them on display...and to see if we won any ribbons! WE DID!

This layout of mine won 2nd place in the scrapbooking catagory!
(You can see better pics of everything if you scroll down a few posts)

This layout won 3rd place!

This layout is NOT mine - but it was the first place winner. I don't diss people's work - because if you scrap, then you are awesome in my eyes. However, I was a little sad that my fussy layouts lost out to this one. WTG lady who won though! Congrats! ;)

Carter was super excited to see that both his projects won ribbons - he got a "special award" ribbon for both of them. Considering he's 5, I didn't expect any ribbons for him. He was proud, and I was proud of him!

Here he is with his card (yes, he's sweaty, it was HOT!)

His scrapbook layout on display!

Way to go Carter!!!

Weekend in Tahoe!

Steve decided to participate in "America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride" this weekend - a 100mile bike around Lake Tahoe. A few of his co-workers trained and rode with him. Since school was over as well, Carter and I decided to tag along and we made a nice 4 day weekend of it!

This is actually from Thursday night (last day of school). Technically the cake is a congrats for finishing kindergarten dessert. But really, I saw it on clearance for $3.99 at Lucky's and thought...mmm cake! It was very good! Happily I am feeling better now (late last week I got super sick, and I've been on mega doses of antibiotics for 10days - stupid prolonged illness following my whole gallbladder/pancreatitis issues from 2 years ago. I won't go too TMI. It's nasty and painful though. 100X worse than labor - I'm serious!) It started to feel better just in time for cake!

Carter and Steve at Emerald Bay

We stayed on the Nevada side/Stateline of the lake. So, we got a cheap rate at the Horizon Casino. Decent place to stay if you're looking for a place. A little dated, but the room was nice. The room only had 2 doubles though, and between Steve wanting to get a good rest for the race, and my sore stomach, we decided to cart along the airmattress and put Carter on the floor. He loves his Buzz 'Snuggie' and fell asleep wearing it! (Thanks Gina and Brooke!)

The next morning we went to a cute little restaurant Steve found on Yelp called Red Hut. It was sooo good! I had blueberry strusel french toast and it was delicious! Check it out! Carter drew this photo on the back of his menu, and he was SUPER excited when they kept it and hung it up with a few other drawings at the front. (The Avengers - IronMan, Hulk, Thor, Captain America.) It wasn't quite done when I snapped the pic. So cute!

While Steve was biking, I took Carter to the pool. They had a kiddie pool that was about 2 feet deep and I just sat on the side while we played. Look what happens to your feet when you tan wearing funky sandals!

Seriously outfitted for 2feet of water! LOL

Later that day we met up with friends for ice cream! YUM! Here is Carter and his idol - Sandhya. He LOVES her, and she is so patient with him.

Met up with Steve on his bike ride at the ice cream shop!

My Boys at the Heavenly Village

Mommy and Carter. Carter was super bummed the gondola didn't open until next weekend...

Back at the hotel pool.

Finally dropped his tire to swim a bit - he's getting good! Just got to learn some breath control and some confidence.

Breakfast is always better when you drink apple juice from a wine glass!

Meeting Steve at the finish line after the 100miles! WTG Steve! xoxo

Steve and Sriram at the finish line

It was a very fun weekend, and it's kinda sad to be home and back to routine. It was a good break though. Now we're on to summer - no more school! Yay!!

Only black mark on my weekend was the fact that despite I repeatedly applied 50+ sunscreen, I got a sunburn. Hotel sheets were rough and scratchy. Ouch! Looking forward to my own bed tonight! The weather was great though. Lots of rain and fog on the way back home. In fact, I freaked out at the top of a mountain while driving and made Steve take over driving! LOL. I couldn't see a thing on the windy and slippery mountain road.
