How about rocking out to a little Bon Jovi on a Saturday morning?
Carter was just hanging with me while I was working...and started singing along. Super cute!
He has a cold, so his singing voice is worse than usual! LOL

Here's the project I'd like to share with you today! A little "trick" to make some super cute and easy gift bags. I made these for my son's class, and for his teachers as a little Halloween treat. I filled them with small candies. I hope they'll be a big hit! I plan to make these again as table placecards for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
Make them in 5 easy steps!
Step 1: Cut your paper to 5-1/2 by 4-1/4 inches. You can get 4 from a sheet of paper.
Step 2: On the back side (the side that won't show) add adhesive to three sides - two long sides and one short side. Note, it's best to use a strong glue for this step. Otherwise it might not hold. I used my ATG tape gun to glue it.
Step 3: Roll up your paper into a tube...
Step 4: Pinch one end closed...
Step 5: add your candy in, then rotate your tube so you can pinch the other side closed. That's what gives the unique shape.
Step 6: add a tag, ribbon, or other embellishments if you like! Here's my finished products!
I hope you enjoyed my little project and that it might inspire you to create your own treat boxes!
As an extra "treat" for you I have a RAK to give out! I'll draw one name at random from all the comments left on this post by October 31st and send out a set of Halloween stamps to the lucky winner!

Field Trip!
Today Carter's class (all 4 K classes actually) went on a Field Trip to Arata's Pumpkin Patch in Half Moon Bay. It was the perfect day for it - nice and sunny but not too hot. The kids had a great time. I was a little under the weather though, and going on a field trip with 90 five year olds really wore me out! LOL
Here he is with his friends Thomas and Jullie. I had a cute orange pumpkin shirt all picked out for him to wear only to get to school to find out they all wear color coordinated shirts. Got to say - smart idea! Each class had their own color, and it was easy to spot the kids!

Thomas and Carter outside the Hay maze. Carter found $1 in there...he was pretty happy. Thomas is his best friend in Kindergarten.
Jullie, Isabel, Thomas, and Carter - the 4 kids in our group. We are inside the hay maze. Note to parents. Don't take 4 kids in a hay maze. Not a good idea...even with other parents with you. Trust me.
Carter and a goat friend!
Pony Ride!
Arata's...
Picking the Pumpkin was the hardest part!
Still looking...
Found them!
Carter and his teacher - Mrs. Fellner.
Lots and lots of kids...
Carter's first ride on the school bus. He was soooo excited!
What a day!

Wescrap Reveal!
And here are some of the layouts I designed with it...
Carter at Pony Camp last summer - petting the animals (sorry the scanner put a shadow on the LO)
Riding his pony...

A pretty card for a friend
I still have some scraps as well, so more to come!

Photo Share!
I've been so busy lately, I haven't had time to share many photos...Here's what we've been up to!
Last weekend it was nice and sunny. We decided to *celebrate* Canadian Thanksgiving and also our 3rd anniversary as US residents by heading to the outdoor pool in mid-October! LOL. My friend Leslie gave us passes to the swanky club where she works and we had a fabulous afternoon there!

After swimming, Carter played on the playground next to the pool.
Palm tree...love them!
This little guy is so into posing lately!
On Friday we headed over to Half Moon Bay to Lemos Farm - the Pumpkin Patch. It was SO HOT out. We had a great time, but Carter didn't last too long in the heat. Here he is with his friend Sean.
Sitting on the pumpkin (should have made him take his hat off...)
The annual "how tall am I" photo - unfortunatley by this time he was hot and tired and SWEATY (see the hair). He wasn't too into posing on the pedestal. So, he's an inch or so taller than it shows here.
On Saturday, I had an all day crop at Scrapbook Island (photos/layouts from that to come tomorrow). Carter had a birthday party in Santa Cruz (which is about 90mins away), so Steve and Carter spent the day there. They had fun at the party and then went to Natural Bridges State Beach. Here are a few pics...
I think this photo says "Daaaaad...stop taking pics!"

Fun times!

More Carterisms...
Today we found out that Carter is colorblind. Sad to be confirmed, but we somewhat expected it for a while. The optometrist told us we should prepare him as he grows up that there will be some careers he will be unable to have. No point in getting your heart set on being a pilot and then learning you won't be able to fly. She told us that most emergency personnel need to have proper vision as well. Carter has long talked of being a firefighter...and maybe a police care driver...or maybe work on the ambulance. So, on the way home we casually mentioned that the doctor said he might need to change his mind.
I was surprised when he said - that's okay, I don't want to be a fireman anymore. So, we asked him - what DO you want to be when you grow up. He thought a minute...and then said...
"I think I want to take the tickets at the movies!"
What a kid!

Yesterday we were at the store and Carter found some cat toys. He asked if we could buy them for Berkeley, and I said no - Berks already has a lot of toys and she never plays with them anyways.
Carter says "Well, I think we should just take away her bed. All she does is sleep in it all the time. If she didn't have a bed then she'd just have to play with her toys!"
Somehow I don't think Berkeley would like that idea...LOL

Carterism...
I had to share this since it made me laugh!
One of the little girls in Carter's class always likes to hang out close to me. If I'm in the classroom or helping out she is always right by my side, talking to me etc. I found out last week (via a conversation with Carter) that she probably just likes to look at my makeup. I don't wear a ton of makeup, but I do wear foundation, colored lipgloss, and macara everyday. Sometimes I do a bit more, but at 8am that's about as good as it gets.
Last week Carter said she was asking why I always wore makeup - and in turn he asked me. I laughed and just said I just like to, and we left it at that.
The day after she told me her mom was too pretty to wear makeup. Ahh...good for her!
Today, she comes up to me before school and says "Hi Carter's Mom! I see you are wearing make-up...again!". I just said "yes, I am!". She says back to me "You know, my mom is so pretty she doesn't need to wear makeup!". So, I said "yes, you told me". Carter was standing there and I think he instinctively knew there was an underlying insult there...so he sweetly tried to defend me.
He says "Yeah, well my mom needs makeup in the morning!" (I have never said that to him!)
I just laughed!

First Day!
Carter has been begging us to start Karate. Last week we decided to give in and sign him up for Tae Kwon Do training. I was a little surprised at how intense it is. To sign up Carter had to take a training course to even find out if they'd take him as a student! He passed, and today was the first official day. He is required to go twice a week for 45mins each. He was very keen to go though, so we signed him up for the rest of the school year.
Here he is at the first class.
At the end of the first class he earned his white belt (the one you get for basically showing up and listening). He was very proud though. The whole studio sat and watched him get presented with it and his teacher awarded it to him as well as a certificate. Afterwards everyone clapped and the cute little guy just BEAMED! Karate Kid in his fighting stance - with his new white belt!
With his certificate!
This is totally a sidepoint, but a very funny story (or maybe you had to be there). I decided to add it so I could remember. On the way home from karate we saw a really old dump of a car with garbage glued on it. It was brown in color, and the paper or whatever it was on it was also brown. Carter noticed it and started asking "what's on that car??" I said "I don't know...garbage I think". Carter thought for a minute and said "Nope, mom...I think it's cats!" I just burst out laughing!
Tae Kwon Do videos...
A few short videos of the first day...he's got a long way to go for that black belt...but he was trying hard! ;)
Bike Riding...
Carter's been working on riding his bike with no training wheels...not too successful to start, but trying...
I had to share this pic too...the inevitable..."you let me fall off Dad!!!" pic!
Final note. If you're going to let your child start riding a bike with no training wheels...on dirt....don't let him wear white shorts.

Quick Share...
I wanted to share these tags I made for the San Bruno Chamber's annual "Taste Of San Bruno". I was asked to make some tags for the wine bottles/centerpieces for the tables. Looking forward to going tonight and seeing them on the tables!
A quick and easy project with my Cricut, my printer, and some cute fall gems I found at Michaels!
World Card Making Day!
Last Saturday was World Card-Making Day. To celebrate WeScrap had a small crop to honor the day. Here are a few of the cards I whipped up for the site!
A set of 4 coordinating cards...
A cute birthday card...
A fall card...for Thanksgiving.
A fun Halloween card...
I made this one for our Sketchy Saturday card sketch...
If you're new to WeScrap there is still lots of time to play along. A winner will be chosen after the close of the crop on Friday. The winner will receive their choice of one of our fabulous kits! Head on over and create some cards - join in the fun!
