Scrappy Stuff...

I've been bloggy today! If you're just hoping on be sure to read below - this is my 4th or 5th post of the day!

Tomorrow I have to go and hand in my entries for the County Fair. If you're a long time blog reader, you may remember that I entered several items in the 2009 fair and was super excited to win several ribbons for my work! Last year, I missed the deadline and decided for 2011 I'd buck up and get my butt in gear. Of course I'd love to win something, but the best part of entering is that you get 2 free admissions and a free parking pass just for entering an item. An entry costs you $2, but in return you're getting about $30 worth of admission. Carter loves to go and ride the rides, so it was totally worth it to enter.

As I was packing up my stuff I realized perhaps I should snap a few pics just in case something goes missing at the fair, or it gets damaged. However, the sun is setting and light is not ideal. You get the overall idea though!

A handmade card - whimsical little owl and a paper lace background. It looks shimmery in the pic because it is loaded with glimmer mist!

A second card - a little more elegant with a satin rosette.

I shared this a few months ago - a paper flower bouqet.

A layout I made for the scrapbooker contest - Carter learning to hula dance in Hawaii. Lots of dimension on this page and canvas flowers too.

And a second layout - Carter's first sledding experience. Really love how this one turned out. I glazed a ton of the embellishments for dimenstion and added a ton of sparkle.

I also made a birthday banner to enter. It's too big to take a pic of in this crappy light though. I'll take some pics at the fair of it displayed! Wish me luck! Overall, I DID enter just for the fun of it, but it would be nice to win a ribbon!

A new bike!

Carter was riding his bike yesterday and Steve noticed that the seat needed moved up so he could extend his leg all the way down. Oops...when we moved the seat up - it came off! No room to make this bike any bigger. So, the lucky little guy got to go bike shopping today. He was too big for a 16", and a teeny bit too small for a 20". There wasn't much choice in the 18" ones, but he really liked this bright blue one. So, we bought it! (Plus, yay - it was on sale!)

So late this afternoon we went to test it out on the Bay Trail. He can go FAST on this bike! No more walking along beside him - we were eating his dust!

Still loving his super cute Small Paul hoodie too...sad it's starting to get too small. A great gift a couple bdays back from his cousins in Calgary. Got to keep wearing this while we can!

10 years...

10 years ago this month Steve and I met...time flew by really fast. It's kind of shocking to think I'm 10 years old. Ugh! Nancy was nice enough to offer to babysit for us overnight while she was here though and we had a quick one night getaway in Half Moon Bay (which is only about 20mins from our house...but alas, a getaway nonetheless!). We also were lucky to get a good deal on a super posh hotel through some friends and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Our room at the Beach House...

Our walkout patio...right on the ocean!
Steve enjoying a glass of wine on the patio
Me in the hot tub! It also overlooked the ocean...sweet!
 Waves at sunset
We were at the wrong angle to get a good sunset shot, but it was pretty...
We had dinner at Sam's Chowder House - mmm...lobster roll is the best, and just relaxed and had a great time! A perfect way to celebrate!

More pics!

Me and my sister shopping in Union Square!

 Fondue party with friends...so fun!

Carter at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk

Nancy and Carter being silly at the SF Zoo!

A better pose ;)

We also walked across the Golden Gate Bridge. I was soooo proud of Carter. He walked the whole bridge in both directions AND he was wearing his braces. Steve and I both carried him for a few minutes here and there, but he walked almost the entire 5 miles all by himself with no complaining.

The surprise reward at the end?? Carter spied R2D2 hanging around and we got to go up close and see him. He thought it was soooo cool. He looks slightly nervous only because we warned him to look, not touch!

Another big milestone for Carter - he finished his weekly physical therapy! The braces are doing their job and he no longer needs to go for his visits. He and I were both really sad to say goodbye to his therapist Hetty - she is super sweet and so good with Carter. It's great to know he's doing better though. Hopefully the braces will be off by the end of summer!

Still more pics to come...!

2 weeks in photos...

Here are a few of the fun and touristy things we did while Nancy was visiting!

A few months ago there was a Groupon deal for the SF "Ride the Ducks" tour. I bought it, knowing that Carter would love it, and it would be a fun way for Nancy - and all of us - to see the city. It's a tour bus ride that drives around the city...then the bus turns into a boat and we drove around the bay. Very fun! Carter thought it was SOOO cool that he got to drive the bus (well, the boat) while it was in the bay. Hanging out of his mouth is his beloved quacker. All the kids got them - basically a whistle that sounds like quacking!

We also went to Santa Cruz and toured the Boardwalk. Carter got a ride wristband and rode alllll the rides. Steve also got a ride band to ride with Carter...but he doesn't like the spinny rides...let's just say he was pretty green by the end of the day. Carter will ride on ANYTHING though and love it!

Me and my sweetie!

Carter and Daddy on a spinning ride!

Carter told us months ago that when Auntie Nancy came he wanted to go mini-golfing with her. So, we also went golfing in Santa Cruz. Carter came in last with a score of over 100, Nancy was next with 63, then me with 53 and Steve won with 50! It was very fun though. :)

Nancy and I attempted to work off all the junk food with a loooong walk along the path at the Pacifica Beach. It was a really nice day out and we both got a little too much sun...

We also went to the Zoo!

Cards...

A few Mother's Day cards I whipped up for today...

Mother's Day in review...

What a busy day we had! Out from 9:15am until 8pm! Busy busy!

First up was breakfast in San Mateo - a super yummy brunch where I ate waay too much. However, not as much as Carter did - can we say 5 pieces of bacon? (and a ton more!). On the way home he told me he was hungry! Yikes...
He wanted to take a silly pic...so here we are!
...and a pointing pic! Carter has taken the habit of pointing when he's not sure/nervous. It's funny...although we're trying to teach him pointing isn't that polite. He doesn't really point at anything in particular, just points! LOL. On his progress report at school, he told his teacher to write "his favorite thing is >>pointing". Nuts!
After breakfast we dropped Dad at the airport - off to Toronto for him. Then we headed down to San Carlos to meet up with our friends Leslie and Sarah. We looked around and then spent the afternoon painting pottery.
Carter made these mugs - one for Mommy for Mother's Day, and one for Daddy (technically for Father's Day!). He did a pretty good job! He entirely painted Daddy's (with a few fill-ins from mom) and got help with the lettering and the dots. He got bored about 75% of the way through on Mommy's, so she painted her own handle and most of the inside. He got more into it when we added yellow hearts. We'll see how they turn out when they're fired! Mommy's will be pink with a blue handle and purple sparkle inside. Wow! Daddy's is going to be red with a turquoise handle and a yellow inside. We will not lose these mugs! LOL. BRIGHT!
Leslie helping Sarah paint a bday gift for her Dad - so cute!
 Carter posing...
...and this is what happens when you wear out a little guy! Falls asleep in the car!
After pottery painting we headed to Half Moon Bay. It was actually nice and sunny over there. The wind was a little cool, but still a great time! We walked around the pier and the kids had a great time!
Took 3 pics of them, and this is the best I got - one looking down, and the other away...figures!

After that we headed to the HMB Brewery for dinner. They have AWESOME fish and chips there. Carter thought it was pretty cool that Mom let him order a root beer AND that it came in a REAL beer container. (We actually asked for a glass to make it easier, but took this pic first)

Carter's drawing..."A Star Wars Guy" - LOL
Carter ate 3 giant pieces of fish - I was impressed! This kid is going to devour the cupboards soon...yikes. Once he was done eating, he wanted to take some pics...

Me and Leslie - by Carter
 Sarah...by Carter
This one cracks me up...Carter...by Carter. A self portrait! LOL
It was a pretty fun Mother's Day!

However, we got home to find out that *someone* whose name starts with "S" and ends with "teve" got ice from the freezer last night and didn't tightly close the freezer. 24hours open made for the entire freezer needing dumped - lucky there wasn't much important in it (but all my precious and $$ weight watcher ice cream bars were melted). Worst of all, I had just bought some mint ice cream for Steve's bday and we'd barely ate any...It melted allllll over the place - down into the fridge, onto the floor, and all over everything in the freezer. What a mess!
