Scrapbook Nook Crop!

This weekend was Scrapbook Nook's Virtual Crop. Sadly, I didn't get much done with the busy weekend, and a sick kid today...but...I did get a few things completed!

For challenge #3 - use up your old stash. These papers are last years Christmas line from Crate paper. I also used embellies from Little Yellow Bicycle and Making Memories.
This layout was for challenge #6 - scrap a vintage photo. I didn't have any actual vintage photos handy, but I did have these photos of Carter playing with a vintage toy! A very very old-school version of an easy bake oven. Sadly, as it was old school...kinda worked old school too. He had fun though!
Last was a "We are Family Challenge" #18 - used these papers by Fancy Pants and pics of my sister, Carter and I at Christmas to complete the challenge.

New Layouts!

Annoucing - Stampin Up party!

I get a lot of comments on my scrapbooks and cards - which of course I LOVE ;).

People are always surprised and comment on several things. I hear stuff like this all the time:
"Wow, how do you have time to do all that?"
"I could never do that - it's too hard"
"Holy crap, you must spend a ton of $$ on scrapbooking stuff"

The answers:
It's not as hard as it looks by a long shot, and it doesn't take that long to do. Everyone can scrapbook, and everyone can EASILY stamp! Lastly, I don't spend a lot on my scrapbook habit (not anymore anyways). Yes, I pick up things here and there, but sales, small design jobs, and promotions like this can get you FAR (and a lot of FREE STUFF!)

So, if you are a paper crafter, then you probably know that next week starts one of the best promotions in the rubber stamping business. Stampin Up's "Sale-a-Bration". A purchase can get you a free and exclusive stamp set. You don't want to miss out!

If you're not a paper crafter, but you secretly think...hmmm...I wanna try it, but I don't want to spend a ton to try it. Well, you don't want to miss out!

I am in the works to host an online stampin up party. You can order online and get your order shipped right to you. If you're one of my Canadian scrappy friends, you have the option to order online and get it shipped to me - then for flat rate shipping fees, I'll re-ship to you. If you look at the shocking price difference between the Cdn and US prices, this is a good deal if you want several things.

Best of all, every $50 gets you a free set!! SWEET!

Here's the extra fun part! Lots of you know I used to be a Rep. for Stampin Up. I know the techniques for stamping and have lots of inventory to try and share. If you're local and you place an order, you are invited to come to my free stampin up design party. I will show you tips and techniques for making cool gifts, cards and more. Supplies included. You can see how easy it is to create beautiful and unique gifts!

More details coming soon!!

Sunday, Sunday...

It's a beautiful day in the Bay today! I'm wearing a tee, capris, and sandals - and the sun is shining! I love it! Really takes the edge off the January blues! :)

This photo was taken from my living room earlier in the week. Fog lying low over the bay. Usually our house (up high on the hill) is the one in the fog. Right after this burned off the weather picked up, and we're enjoying hot and sunny weather!

We had big plans for Sunday. Steve is heading off to Toronto for the week, and Carter has been asking to see "Tangled". I was planning to take him this afternoon, and he's been sooo excited! Poor little guy woke up about 4am though calling "Mooommmmy" - shortly after we heard the not-so-welcome sound of puke! Cleaned up the bed, gave Carter a bath, and did some laundry and got back into bed about 4:45. 5:15 - repeat. 7am - repeat. He's much better now, but back to sleep on the couch (cutie!).
No fever, no runny nose, and when he's not throwing up he feels fine. Thinking it's something he ate...poor guy. He was pretty disappointed though when we weren't going to see the movie. He said "mommy - I'm not sure I'm feeling so well!". Aww! Hopefully the nap revives him and we're back to normal.

Regardless...a lazy Sunday at home!

Carterisms...

Here are a few silly ones from today...

When I picked him up from preschool today, I asked (as I always do) how it was. He usually says it was okay. Today he let out a big dramatic sigh and said "Moommm...if you want to know how it is everyday, why don't you just stay?!"

I tried hard not to giggle, and said - "well you know Mom's don't stay - preschool is for kids"

Carter knows that I am a teacher, so he says "well, mom, the teachers stay - so why don't you just put on your teacher pants and then you can stay!"

Oooohhhh...why did I never think of that?! Better buy some new teacher pants! ;) Whatever those are!

Later on, we were getting him ready for bed. I pulled out a pair of PJs for him to wear. This particular pair has Elmo on them and my mom bought them for him while we were in Calgary. He hadn't worn them since we got home. He got all excited and wondered if Grammie knew I brought the pjs home. I said yes, she knew - and they were for him. Next thing I know he's smelling them! LOL. I asked him what he was doing and he says "Mom, I don't think Grammie bought these for me". I asked why not? "Well, they smell like Auntie Nancy - they don't smell like Grammie". Too funny!

Birthday Fun!

I'm a little behind in my blogging. These are pics from LAST Sunday. We headed out to the Bay Area Discovery Museum to celebrate Reese's 3rd birthday! What a fabulous place to have a party. We had a blast!

In the party room - lots of crafts! Carter made a cool wooden airplane, and painted this little bag.
The birthday girl with her mom and dad - ready to blow the candles.
 Sweet little Reese!
 Smiley girl!
Eating cake - it was sooo good!
After our time in the party room we got to look around the museum. Carter and Sean fishing in the boat.
Fire Fighter Carter in the Ranger's Shack - checking the fire areas!
This part was by FAAAR the favorite. Window washing. We could hardly pry him away!
A pic from the other side of the window...
The outside play area is huge and lots of fun. Loading a dump truck with gravel...
The model Golden Gate Bridge - Mr. Construction worker bringing in materials!
Building the side of the bridge
Fun little water play area (note, he did NOT want to take that vest off!)
My boys at the museum - it is literally right at the base of the Golden Gate bridge!
 Puppet show!
Mommy and Carter playing with the green screen (you got projected onto a TV)
A super fun day! Hope Reese enjoyed her party as much as we did!

We finished off the day with a walk through Sausalito and Tiburon to get some sun and exercise. Then off to North Beach in San Francisco for some sushi. It was good to be back home after the busy Christmas season!

Tron!

Carter and Steve realllly love Tron! For Christmas I got them both Tron hoodies from the Disney store! Not quite matching, but coordinating anyways! Carter's is pretty big, so hopefully it fits for a while!

Growing Up...

I had such a fun day today with Carter. We didn't do much really out of the ordinary, but it was a great day. I was really struck by how mature he can be sometimes.

He got up this morning and played a bit before breakfast. Steve headed off to work in the garage, and I went ahead to do some inside cleaning. I was a little overwhelmed by the mess in the house. It really hadn't had a good clean since we got back from Calgary.

Carter came over and said - mom, I'll do all the dusting for you. And he did...and he did a GREAT job. Then I was vaccuming, and he said - I'll do under the table for you...and he did!

Following that, he jumped up at the table and said "I'm going to do my workbooks now". He has to do pages in his workbooks (writing numbers and letters etc) to earn TV time and Wii time. Usually he doesn't complain about it, but he NEVER asks to do it. Well, he sat there for over 30mins and did page after page - properly and neat. I was so impressed!

In the afternoon we headed out to Ikea. His room really needed some more storage. He was REALLY excited when we got there. If you don't know, they have a kids playroom at Ikea. It's pretty cool. However, he's never actually stepped foot in it. It's always full...but we always check. Well, today was his lucky day and they had room for one more. So, we shopped in peace while he played. We got two new shelving units for his room.

Back at home he played nicely while I made dinner and Steve assembled them. We mounted it to the wall and I spent an hour after dinner putting stuff away. When he came in to see it he said "wow - my room just looks perfect!" It was sooo cute!

I'm always a little sad to think he's growing up...but it's nice to have days like this when we can all enjoy life and whining is at a minimum!

Carter-isms

On the way home from preschool today we stopped in at the dollar store for some tissue paper (ideas brewing for homemade Valentines this year...)

I asked Carter who he would choose to be his Valentine this year. He piped up right away - BROOKE! (I was not surprised).

However, I WAS surprised when he said next "Mom, what does 'this year' mean?"

Hmmm...that seems like such an easy question to answer. It was kind of hard to explain to a 4 year old though! Of course we just celebrated Christmas, and started a new year. Carter's view of the passing days is a bit different though.

We started going through the days of the week and then the months. 10minutes later I figured he had the concept.

Naturally he surprised me again when he said "Mom, I've been thinking - can I have two Valentines? I will pick you too!"

Awww! :)

Been busy!!

My sister was complaining that I haven't updated for a while. True, but I've been busy! Here are a few fruits of my labor...scrappy stuff!

Carter going to see the Rocketts - lilibee Christmas line
Whale Watching in Maui last year
Carter's swim lessons at City Park last summer - I love this pic!
Little Guy - asleep with his new pillow pet from Grammie (he wasn't feeling well)
This is actually from LAST (2009) Christmas - Carter and his friend Joey
My FAVORITE pic from 2010 - Carter in Hawaii
Lemos farm with the Mom's club - again, 2009, not 2010 (I'm behind!!)
Mailing his Christmas letter to Santa at Macy's

I have a few more to post and some general pics to come too - hopefully over the weekend!

I love free stuff!
