Quick Gift...

Today was Carter's teacher's birthday. The class gave her a card and I made this "pencil" for them to give her. It's made out of a Pringles container!

It's feeling good to get back to crafting. I've missed it. I think I'm coming out of my scrapbook funk and getting some mojo back. Now to find a new online home and gallery to share my work!

Spring Photos

Carter's school had spring photos a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it was the day after we got back from Calgary and poor Carter was a little under the weather, tired, and he also picked up "Slap Cheek" from several of his classmates who love to share their germs. ;)

I am definitely being the mean mom by sharing this pic - but I have to say, I think it's hilarious.
Needless to say, we didn't buy it, but I couldn't help snapping a quick pic to remember this by. He looks like a cross between really mad and super miserable. Still pretty cute though! ;)

Kindergarten fun with the Opera!

I was excited to go help out in Carter's class today. I don't get the opportunity to work in his classroom very often, so when I am invited to go I jump on the opportunity. Today was a fun day! Carter's teacher had invited the San Francisco Opera Guild to come and do a presentation with the kids.

Some of my blog readers might not know that I am trained as an Opera singer, and since Carter's teacher knew this, she was sure I'd want to come and check it out. I had a great time!

The opera was Hansel and Gretal and all the kids got turns to play different parts. Here is Carter as the gingerbread house!

After that, he got a turn to be Hansel. The little girl in the photo is one of his BFF's and he's quite insistent at this point in time that they are going to get married one day! LOL. I thought this photo was especially funny since it looks like she's lecturing him about something! ;)

He's hiding behind her to stay safe from the witch...right before they push her into the oven!

...and there she goes!
It was a fun day! Really makes me think I need to get back to singing again...I am so out of practice! It would also probably help if Carter would stop sharing his germs with me and I could get rid of this cough! ugh!!!

Spring Fling!

Last weekend was the Mom's Club Annual Spring Fling. Carter always enjoys it since there is an egg hunt. He also had a fun time doing crafts!

He spent about 20minutes coloring this picture in...and then was very proud of it.

The egg hunt begins!

With the Easter Bunny.

This is apparently the nicest smile he could muster! LOL

Fun Morning at Lowes

On Saturday we had the chance to go to the Lowe's building workshop for kids. Carter had a great time, and got to build a racecar that makes sounds, a basketball hoop, and a castle. I was pleasantly surprised to see how into it he was. He tried really hard, read the directions on his own, and was pretty handy with the hammer!

With the finished racecar...

Lots of friends came too!

This kid looks seriously cute in goggles!

A card...

It took me a few weeks, but I finally got my thank you notes made, written, and mailed.

I really appreciate all the love and support my friends have been since my Dad passed away. It's hard to believe it's been a little over a month already...

Carter Update

I really am going to get better with updating my blog! Stay tuned!

Carter celebrated something big last week - he finished his list of 10 books. These books, he read entirely by himself. Once he had them written out on a list he earned a blue star for his karate uniform. He was so excited to get the star last week, and we were super proud of him for trying so hard. He already has 3 more books read for his next star. I tried to take a pic of him receiving his star during class, but he moved too fast!

Last week it rained allllll week and the kids were stir crazy! An improptu trip to Pump It up perked them up super fast and got all the sillies out (for an hour or so anyways!).

Carter Tries Snowboarding!

Last weekend we headed back up to Tahoe (South Lake by Heavenly this time). After having such a stressful February it was nice to get away from things for a couple of days. We rented a beauiful house with several other couples and just relaxed, drank wine, and sat in the hottub. It was awesome...and too short!

Carter was anxious to go skiing again, so we put him in some lessons for Saturday. He decided to be extra brave and try snowboarding this time! Steve found Star Wars themed lessons over at Sierra, and it was a lot of fun!

The Kids Board Park - so cute!

Getting their gear on! So cute that they had trooper vests and R2D2 helmets!

Carter trying it out...

Wipeout...one of many! He was a good sport though!

Ski Weekend Pics!

We had a great weekend in an awesome house we rented near Heavenly Resort. When the kids weren't skiing they kept themselves busy with other activities...

Sledding behind the house was great. A nice hill just perfect for 5/6yr olds!

Hardest part was getting back up the hill after you went down. The snow was hard and got packed down/slick fast.

Carter and Geoffrey figured out they could go faster together!

...and then they'd wipe out...which was hilarious to them.

Back at the house, this was the activity of the weekend - gather as close as we can around an iPad. Here is Carter, Peter, Geoffrey, and Susan. They also went through a lot of tape and paper making lightsabers (you can see the tubes on the table). They used the lightsabers for Zombie hunting. They all went to bed late and got up at 6am every day. UGH!

This is what my kid looks like about 11am after going to bed late and getting up at 6!

Shortly after he moved to this pose...LOL

But he is pretty darn cute!

The energy riled back up and they climbed onto the "space ship" to take down more Zombies!
